The University Writing Center needs you!

Job Description: Writing Consultants meet one-on-one with student writers from across campus to provide critical, constructive feedback on writing projects. Consultants work collaboratively with writers at any stage of a student's writing process, including idea generation, idea organization, finding and evaluating sources, and revising drafts. Candidates must enjoy writing as well as assisting other writers. Consultants are expected to be peer leaders interested in the personal and professional development of themselves and others. Excellent word processing skills, and familiarity with Ramsey Library's research resources required.

Available Positions: We are not currently accepting applications.

Application Requirements: Applicants must have completed at least one semester at UNC Asheville; visited the Writing Center one or more times; be able to complete an 8-week, one-credit tutor training course; and must be able to commit at least two semesters of work.

  2. A 3-10 page academic writing sample
  3. A cover letter describing your interest in becoming a writing consultant, a specific example of a time when you received feedback on a writing project and any non-academic experience that qualifies you to be a writing consultant.
